Once tagged "rock's boy genius" by the music press, singer-songwriter, Conor Oberst turned 27 earlier this year and although his band Bright Eyes has seen numerous other members, the group has now settled on the 3-piece of Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis and Nate Wolcott.
This past March, Bright Eyes released a 6 song EP titled Four Winds and the following month the band dropped their 5th studio album, Cassadaga. The album features guests Gillian Welch, Janet Weiss (ex-Sleater Kinney), M.Ward, Maria Taylor, Ben Kweller, Andy Lemaster (Now Its Overhead) and Jason Boesel (Rilo Kiley). Recording for the first time outside of Lincoln, NE, Bright Eyes was busy in studios in Portland, NYC, Chicago and LA. The result is the band's most confident work so far, an album full of soaring strings and harmonies exploring life, love, history, death and the afterlife.
